Blogging Anxiety – Reply to Julla

Hello everyone! 🙂

So, this will not be a beauty or fashion type of post. It’s more of a ‘serious’ post. Although, don’t worry, it’s nothing bad. Well, not that much. It’s about blogging anxiety.

Now, I was just scrolling down my Timeline when I saw a post by the lovely Jullla titled ‘Blogging Anxiety’ (which you can check out here). Curious, I clicked on the post and as I was reading I was thinking: ‘Oh my, she is literally describing my life!’ So, I started typing my comment and it was so long that I decided that I’d write a post instead.

So, basically, Jullla was talking how she was feeling extremely anxious because the people in her school might find out about her blog and how, since it’s quite personal, she wants to protect it. So, go check her post out, you will not regret it. It’s great.

Jullla, I completely agree. I feel so anxious about every post I do, worrying someone from my school will find it and ‘expose’ it. That’s why I don’t post selfies or any pics with friends… I even deleted a post where I talked about some of my friends or the things they were going through (nothing too personal, it was about guys) because I thought that the case was very special and that, if someone from my school came across it, they would definitely know who I am, who I was talking about and… Yeah, you get my point.
The reason behind my anxiety is simple: when I was, like, 11, I posted a video of my best friend and I wishing a celebrity we loved a happy birthday. (I know… it makes me cringe too) I deleted the video a few years later, but my friend didn’t. I don’t think you’d believe me if I tokd you that a few months ago a girl from my school found that video and, guess what? She sent it to another girl who sent it to another one and so on. They confronted me a week after finding it, but I honestly don’t know how they managed to! The video was titled something like ‘Happy Birthday (celebrity name)’… there wasn’t anything but my name (just first name) and face in it and I really couldn’t figure how they’ve done it. From then, I was super careful what I did: I don’t comment on YouTube videos, nor do I like them (that might show up somewhere, who knows? – that’s my thought process) I have had my Twitter private for some time, I have made separate e-mail, Twitter and all the social media stuff for my blog, despite having a Twitter account with more than 4,000 followers. I also happen to have one of my great friends, and yes even though she’s a ‘great friend’ and I love her to death, I know how she feels about blogging and YouTube and stuff like that…

The same thing once happened to me: a post of mine was accidentally posted on my Twitter and I saw it the next day. Thankfully, nobody from my country saw it. (thank you, WordPress, for having the amazing part of stats for ‘which country visited my blog?’)

So, I’ve been rambling on for too long, I’m sorry.

I still hope you enjoyed this post, maybe you managed to relate?

Thank you so much, Julla, for writing this post. It really does help knowing you’re not alone. 🙂

Go check out Jullla’s post, click here and leave a comment, tell me if you have (or had) a similar problem. 🙂

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you soon. 🙂

Bye,

~ Dora

xx

(I almost published this on my other Twitter too 😀 oh, irony)

Aaaw Dora, thank you so much for your support! I’m so very sorry you have been through a similar experience, and your video was spread around. It is so horrible, and I apologize you ever had to experience that. I really, truly appreciate you posting about this as well, and you are so strong to have told your story. It’s something I think many bloggers or people on the Internet really stress about at times, and I always feel sorry that we are afraid of sharing it with others. I want you to know that I absolutely adore your blog, and I love reading your posts! It’s amazing to have a community of people that are so very supportive and lovely, and I appreciate your sincerity and rawness so very much. I really believe you can inspire others with your story and your sweetness, and thank you so much for being so supportive and lovely! I wish I could explain in actual depth how much I love and appreciate this, so please know it means the world to me! Thank you so much again, I hope you have the loveliest day! xxxx 🙂

First of all, you’re very welcome. I love reading your blog and this post just called for a reply post. 🙂
Secondly, thank you so much for the support and all the kind words. It also means the world to me hearing someone likes reading this little blog I have, since, I struggle with time and posting schedules (I basically work on one post a few days, because I have that much time) so to hear that someone actually enjoys reading what I write is what keeps me going, doing this, because I truly do love it.
Also, I actually got anxious about posting this too, thinking that if someone found it, there would be no doubt it was me, but you know what? It’s time to be brave! Baby steps. 🙂
Again, you’re so very welcome. 🙂

And thank you, have a wonderful day yourself! 😀

      xx

Aaaaw I know! I’m getting very emotional as well aaaahhh!! I really can relate to you when it comes to anxiety, I am such an anxious person yet I’m learning on how to be more peaceful, which includes writing for my blog. I love your blog and I look forward to reading your posts all the time so thank you for always doing that! I’m sure other readers appreciate it so much as well. Together in our little blogging community, we can learn how to be more confident in showing this part of us and continuing to do something we love! Aaah, thank you so much again lovely, all my love! 🙂 xxx

Exactly! What frustrates me is that I made my blog to kinda relieve stress and anxiety and everyday problems, let’s say, but then I end up being anxious even more because someone might find it and expose it. I am glad that we can come together as a community and talk about stuff like this, get tips from one another and bond over it, as well as share our favorite eyeliners and blushes. 😀 It’s just so cool! 😀
Thank you, again, so much. It really does mean the world to me. 🙂

I couldn’t agree with you more! It’s really a way to support one another but it is also nerve-racking to worry about people finding it. But, it’s just something we may have to learn to feel more comfortable with. And we can all be there for each other and support our blogs as much as we possibly can!!! 🙂 xxxxx

    Hi Dora,
Just wanted to say that I found this post interesting as I suffer from anxiety, but it’s only due to being a ‘perfectionist’. So sorry to hear that those girls found the video and put you in an uncomfortable situation. If only females would empower each other more. Also, I think it’s cute making a Happy Birthday video for someone. I know celeb and all and would never see it, but it is always the thought that counts. Now onto my advice: Own everything that you do, so that way no one can ever use it against you. Own it and live it, no one can be you better than you!!

      Hi!
Thank you so much for taking the time and reading (and commenting) on my post. The whole thing dialed down in about 2 weeks. (I honestly don’t remember) Basically, most of the people stopped caring and thought it wasn’t a big deal and I also dealt with it by doing what the lovely girl that started making fun of me least expected: I laughed at myself with them. There were days when I’d just walk past them and they’d start mentioning it and after a few times of gluing my head to the floor and walking by quickly, but then one day I just kind of laughed and threw a sarcastic comment at her. Or: she started singing ‘Happy Birthday’ with the celebrity’s name to me, waiting for me to run away or something, but I just sang along, laughing. She stopped after a few seconds, realizing I’ve beat her in her own game.
Hehe yeah, it was a pretty cute idea. My friend did that for my birthday last year, too. 😀
Thank you so much for the advice. Seriously, thank you. It means so much to me. 🙂

      xx

No problem! Good for you hun, show her that you’re not afraid to laugh at yourself. Sometimes a person needs to make others feel small because they themselves feel small in their own life. Im glad it didn’t last for long. Keep doing and being you xo

Exactly, it’s been proven that the people who put others down aren’t satisfied with their lives in some way.

        Thank you so much! 😀

  3. Hi Dora, I’m sorry to hear that people around you are not as open to blogging 😦 I struggle with a form of blogging anxiety a little different to yours and Jullla’s, I get anxious when I don’t meet blogging schedules that I set for myself and it sort of defeats the purpose of blogging since I started it because I enjoy sharing about beauty and make up >< Also at the moment I keep everything separate except for my Instagram account, because hunnybunnysoph began as my personal IG name and I decided to use it for my blog name lol. I don't think my friends would tease or make snide remarks if I told them I'm blogging as a hobby but I don't really know how to bring up the subject either so I've just kept quiet. There'll always be naysayers who have something mean to say about someone when they see their success so I suppose we should be the ones feeling sorry for such people instead? Haha 😛 I hope things get better for you and remember that you always have our support!! 🙂 xx

      Hey 🙂
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and write such a lovely comment.
I completely understand that. I myself get anxious over that sometimes too. What happens to me, also, is I’d miss a post I was going to do due to work and school, I’d completely forget about it but then, when I’d remember it, I’d just feel really bad and start getting anxious. We need to deal with our ‘inner-issues’…
      I don’t know, where I live, blogging isn’t a ‘normal’ thing, let’s say.
But we’ll get comfortable enough, eventually. 🙂
Hmm… maybe you could sneaky-ly mention it in a conversation? For example, if you’re talking about something beauty related and you’ve covered it on your blog, you could say: ‘Oh, yeah, I reviewed this on my blog.’ then, they will probably ask ‘Oh, wow, wait, you have a blog?’ and so your conversation would continue.
I’m crap at coming up with ideas for situations like these, sorry…
I do hope it all works out. 🙂

Thank you so much for the support, right back at ya 😉 ❤

      xx

P.S. We should definitely pity the naysayers. Such sad lives they're living.

      1. I suppose where I come from, blogging is normal in a sense but people tend to view those starting out as doing it because they want fame like the well known beauty vloggers/bloggers now. And it annoys me so much because not everyone is fame-hungry and it’s not fair to jump to that conclusion the moment someone mentions they have a blog. Haha that’s okay, I don’t have a better idea myself so I’m actually glad you’re trying to come up with ideas for me! 😀 xx
p.s. I literally just missed a post this week and I can feel the anxiety set in a little.. haha ><

I know, that must be really annoying. Some people are so close-minded!
Haha glad I could contribute in a way. 😀

Oh.. 😦 I know, I need to publish one, but it’s just taking so much longer to actually write it than I expected…
Just know that whenever you post, we’ll be there to read it 😉
